General Description

This report presents information on water-supply characteristics of selected Arkansas streams that will facilitate orderly development, conservation, control of pollution, and wise use of Arkansas's surface-water resources. The flow data came from 65 gaging stations and 97 partial-record sites.

The report includes:

  • A location map of gaging stations and partial-record stations
  • An example of computerized data
  • Several types of daily mean flow charts
  • A magnitude and frequency of annual low-flow periods on the Cossatot River near DeQueen from 1929 to 1957
  • A physiographic map of Arkansas with low-flow index of selected streams
  • Several hydrographs and a yearly mean flow of Cossatot River for the period 1929-1957
  • Descriptions of 2 gaging stations in the St. Francis River basin, 22 gaging stations in the White River basin, 21 gaging stations in the Arkansas River basin, and 20 gaging stations in the Red River basin
  • Descriptions of 32 partial-record stations in the St. Francis River basin, 34 partial-record stations in the Arkansas River basin, and 32 partial-record stations in the Red River basin
  • A table showing the duration of daily flow at gaging stations on selected Arkansas streams.
  • Flow, given in cubic feet per second, which was equalled or exceeded for percent of time indicated
  • A table showing magnitude and frequency of annual low flows at gaging stations on selected Arkansas stream
