Title | Mineral Production Statistics of Arkansas for the Period 1880-1935 |
Author (s) | M.L. Gibson |
Date | 1936 |
General Description |
The original data used in compiling these mineral production statistics were Federal production end value figures, severance tax reports from April 1, 1923, to date, and sand and gravel sales reports filed with the State Department of Revenues. A few figures were secured from producing companies. The Federal mineral, production and value figures used were those published by the U. S. Geological Survey for the years 1880 to 1923, inclusive, and by the U. S. Bureau of Mines from 1924 to 1935, inclusive. For convenience, all such figures are referred to as U. S. Bureau or Mines figures. Prior to 1936, no complete record of mineral production had ever been compiled from the severance tax reports. In some instances, it was necessary to estimate the production from the amount of severance tax paid. The values corresponding to severance tax production figures were obtained, with few exceptions, by using the U. S. Bureau of lanes average unit price figures for Arkansas, where available, or the average unit price figures for the United States when the Arkansas unit price figures were not available, the explanation of which accompanies each separate mineral production sub-table of Table X. *Includes: 117 pages, 11 tables and 33 figures |
